Feels Rushed Like All Akshay Kumar Movies Nowadays
2 September 2022
I have seen the Original, so I didn't have any Suspense factor watching the Movie. But, I certainly feel the Movie is very rushed in nature as if Akshay Kumar had 1 Week for shooting this Movie. Rakul Preet does what Bollywood expect their Actress to do, Just look Gorgeous & fall in Love with the Lead Actor immediately.

With OTT penetration nowadays, I wonder why Bollywood rely on Copying when People can watch the Original easily with Subtitles.

Even the Climax feels like the Killer was just waiting to start narrating his Back Story as soon as Akshay Kumar recognise him.

Sorry Bollywood, We deserve better than a rushed Copy-Paste Version of a Movie available easily for anyone to watch.

Definitely Overrated !!!
26 September 2020
KGF is a One-Time Watch. KGF is a Fine Example of Marketing Strength in Film Industry. A Young Boy wants to be Rich & his Journey from Childhood to KGF (Gold Mine) is traced in Part 1. Lots of Characters, Lot of Production Budget, Lots of Style Yet IMDb Rating of 8.2. Shows how Manipulative & Powerful is Today's Digital World.

Putting in Perspective, 1. Lead Actor: Honestly, If Growing Hair & Beard is Acting, then Sure "Yash Acting Was Superb". But, Yash was Stylish. That's the end !!! There wasn't much Acting required by Yash as was Style & Yash delivers on Style. 2. Actress & Songs: Actress are mere Audience Demand & Actor Ego Display in most Indian Movies & KGF isn't any Exception. The Lead Actress has no sense of Acting & it doesn't take a Drunkard to impress a High Society Girl as the Drunkard can beat 50 People without any scratch & has a "Sad" Backstory. Songs are placed for Style & does nothing to the Movie. 3. StoryLine: Almost Nil. Just enough Points to have sufficient Songs & Fight Scenes for Yash to engage in Style, Sorry Acting. 4. Production: High. Like Prabhas's Saaho, Money wasn't a concern & Production Values reflect Money Well Spent. 5. Direction: Good. Along with Production Values, Direction was directed towards Style. 6. Practicality: Zero. Fight Scenes & 1 Guy getting no Bullets yet his Bullets hitting many & Typical Macho Fight Scenes.

KGF is Overrated at 8.2 in IMDb. Reminds me of Saaho yet KGF is a Gold Mine as compared to Saaho, which was a Disaster. 1 Time Watch & Entertaining.

Watch For Acting Of Entire Cast, With Not Much Story-wise & A Bit Lengthy
12 June 2020
Feels with Shoojit felt any Movie can be pulled off by acting prowess. Everyone in the Film acted absolutely best, yet we frequently get the sensation of where's the Story is going & whether it's another Ayushman Movie which is over-hyped (Like his last 02 ventures). To be honest, We can't watch a 120 Minute Movie just for Amitabh Sir acting as good as he has done lately & appreciate the Make-Up.

Overall, 6.5. Yet going with 7 as I can't expect more Performance Wise from the Actors.

CONs: Highly Dramatic Ending, Over-reliance on Amitabh Sir, 20 Minutes Lengthy.

Good Series But Far From Being Outstanding
28 March 2020
Good Work should be appreciated & Asur is Good Work. It's a blend of Mystery, Crime, Mythology with good performance from the Cast. Yet, Asur is far from Perfect as it is being type-casted in the reviews. The Story could have been 01 Episode Lesser & certain unwanted heroics could have been avoided. Certain point of the Story feels like the Director & Writer are indulging in their good work. However, Asur is a Must-Watch for its originality & an attempt to create a TV Series devoid of typical Indian Masala Entertainment.

Such Budget Yet Such Production
18 October 2019
Movie had such a High Budget, yet the Output is absurd. Possibly, the only Positive IMDb Reviews would be from Telegu Fans similar to Salman Khan Movies getting Positive Reviews from Salman's Fans. While Bahubali is One-Of-A-Kind & We won't see such quality always, yet Prabhas could have opted for a Movie with a strong story rather than a Movie filled with Hollywood/Korean Scene Copy.

Songs are Excessive & placed without any context. Editing feels like the Person was watching Hollywood/Korean movies on 01 Desktop & editing the Movie on a 2nd Desktop. Action Scenes feels like a Child without any Skill has been given a huge budget. Prabhas' acting feels 01 Dimensional & Forced. Sharaddha Kapoor is there doing what she does in most movies, Damsel in Distress waiting to be rescued.

Such Potential was wasted by the Director. With Prabhas as Lead & such High Budget, Sahoo should have been a Great Action Thriller. Yet, it was a Joke & Telegu Film Industry is significantly better than this Silly-Excuse-Of-A-Movie.

Beauty Is Felt, Not Said By Words
25 November 2018
I have made a point of watching IMDb Top 250 Movies for quite some time. Wasn't aware of such a list, until I stumbled across IMDb & realised I had seen all of Top 50 (Almost) while some movies remaining. But, I see why Shawshank Redemption is #1.

Writing review about the movie would be an injustice. The movie shows Human Relationship at its core, when opened to its core upon extreme adversaries. Watch this movie, not because it's #1 in IMDb Rating but because the 240 minutes would be the moments to reflect your whole life on.

Watch For The Amazing Acting, Direction & Documentary Feel
3 June 2018
I didn't knew about the true story portrayed in the movie prior to watching the same. I watched the movie without any expectations as the star cast weren't big names. The movie is shot in an unique manner to portray the absulotely bizarre & eventually unfortunate career of the title character. Anyone not remotely aware of the sport would enjoy the movie.

Definitely recommend the movie for anyone looking to spend few hours on a movie which is serious, brutal, funny & bizarre...all at the same time.

A Satisfying Watch
3 June 2018
I am a fan of Christian Bale. But, his intense acting in almost all his movies amazes me. Early reviews says the movie is slow but good. I agree on the slowness part yet the satisfaction once the credit rolls (When Bale boards the Train) wouldn't be feasible if any moment of the movie is taken away.

The movie is shot outdoors in beautiful unoccupied/empty location which in a way portrays the emptiness within the soldiers after the relentless war against Native Americans. Each supporting cast has done an amazing job to match up with Bale's commanding act.

I wouldn't recommend the movie for anyone who don't have a good 02 hours to spare. But, for anyone planning to watch the movie, I assure an extremely satisfying feeling when the credit rolls.

Simple Story With A Predictable Beginning Yet Satisfying & Beautiful Ending
10 December 2015
5 To 7 is a romantic movie narrating the romance between a 20s young American aspiring writer & 30s married French woman. What feels like an adultery movie turns out to be a satisfying & tranquil movie experience.

Cast wise, I am familiar with Anton Yelchin, but it was Berenice Marlohe who is the soul of the movie. Anton is an upcoming actor with great skills & he was perfect in his portrayal of an upcoming rejected writer. But, the performance of Berenice {who was in Skyfall for a brief moment} has done a great job. Others like Olivia Thirlby, Lambert Wilson, Glenn Close & Frank Langella were pivotal in their small yet essential roles.

Honestly, I felt I was watching a typical adultery movie with extra-marital affair. Yet, the same was beautifully pictured by the Director. It was mostly shot in city locations adding to the authenticity of the movie & making you fall in love with New York.

Overall, it's a nice movie to watch.

Blue Ruin (2013)

Average Person Revenge Story Portrayed Very Well
29 July 2014
"Blue Ruins" is a low budget drama cum moderate thriller which explores the adult life of a man whose life was thrown astray after the murder of his parents during his teenage years. This movie shows how his life changes after his parent's murderer is released from prison.

Cast wise, I didn't find any recognizable faces. Having said that, the lead actor (Macon Blair) has given an extremely powerful performance worthy of critic's and non-critic's appreciation, if not awards. His performance especially dealing with unfathomed situations thrown in-front of him as a consequence of his own actions is simply perfect. He is supported by an able cast.

With the extremely low budget of the movie, it's difficult to point out negatives about the movie considering the positives of the movie. For some, this movie will be slow and predictable, yet I would recommend this movie for anyone who isn't concerned about spending/enjoying/wasting (depending on your taste) 90 minutes of their life on a good movie.

Nebraska (2013)

Soulful & Perfect Non-Pretentious Family Drama
29 July 2014
Alexander Payne is one of my favorite directors. I believe that human emotions is captured the best way in his movies amongst the current crop of directors. "Nebraska" is a family drama genre movie dealing with the relationship between an extremely old and mentally fragile father and his not-so-young son and how their relationship change after the father is sure that he has won a lottery of a million dollars and is willing to visit to a far away place to retrieve the prize money.

Cast wise, Alexander Payne and his casting team has been a genius considering his previous movies. Bruce Dern (Father), Will Forte (Son) and June Aquibb (Mother) are the soul of the movie. The performance of Bruce Dern is an act of perfection and no word is sufficient enough to appreciate it. Will Forte plays the role of the son so well that it surprises me that he is mostly a stand up comedian by profession. June Aquibb provided comic relief in such a wonderful manner that you can't escape smiling. Rest supporting cast is so wonderful, each performing their role with unique mix of seriousness and comic.

I wouldn't say any negative about this movie, even if it may be gazing at my face throughout the movie cause I love Alexander Payne's movies. Each and every aspect of movie making, let it be storyline, black & white shooting, cinematography, casting, performance, music is simply done superbly.

Non-Stop (2014)

Good Thriller With Dependable Liam Neeson
29 July 2014
Non Stop is an action-thriller movie starring the ever-dependable Liam Neeson in a role very similar to Taken as in a one-man show. And Liam Neeson hardly disappoints howsoever improbable and absurd the movie plot might seems. Non Stop deals with an officer played by Liam Neeson trying to find a suspected terrorist in an airplane without creating any panic or suspicion.

Cast wise, Liam Neeson is perfect for the role. The fact that he is still able to carry an entire movie solely on his shoulder is testament of his immense talent. His role is very similar from performance perspective to the Taken series. He is ably supported by the support case.

The movie positives clearly lies in Liam Neeson, storyline and the ability to engage the audience till the very end, where the climax works as a negative aspect of the movie. I was hoping for a strong finish, expected from the amazing suspense maintained till the end. However, how-so-much you like the climax will decide how-so-much you like the movie overall. Having said that, if you like the Taken series, you will like Non Stop also. After all, it's Liam Neeson at work.

In a World... (2013)
Amused & Enlightened
29 July 2014
"In A World" is a drama genre movie dealing with the life of voice-over artists. Frankly, this movie will shock you with the details shown. I was always aware of voice-over music or speech, yet this movie explores that industry, its artists & their struggle, aspirations, process etc.

Cast wise, Lake Bell is the soul of this movie in every perspective. Being the director, writer and co-producer along-with being the lead actor of this movie, she has done a commendable job. I saw Lake Bell only in "Boston Legal" where she was completely over shadowed by others, but in this movie, she leads the way in every possible manner. Other supporting cast, especially Fred Melamed have done very well in his role.

The unique storyline, performances, short & apt running time are the positives of this movie. When you watch a movie with very low expectation and are surprised and amused by the movie, negatives aren't remembered or noted even if they exists. This movie was such an experience for me. Watch this movie and you will be completing it feeling enlightened and amused.

Decent Watch With Enough Thrills and Holes
15 June 2012
"Man on a Ledge" is a Thriller set in New York based upon a former police officer, Nick Cassady (Sam Worthington) who is wrongly convicted of a crime he didn't commit and escapes from the prison to prove his innocence by actually stealing the diamond which he was supposed to stole in the first place.

Cast wise, Pretty Good. Sam Worthington essays the lead role quite convincingly although one really feels a need for change to the way he approach his lead roles usually. Something is always missing. It could be that spark which ultimately separates the good from the bad or his tired demeanor. Elisabeth Banks is good and she looks good too. Jamie Bell, Ed Harris and others supporting cast pitch in well with their respective jobs. Overall, a good performance from everyone on the board.

"Man on a Ledge" storyline might seems similar to many other recent or slightly older thriller about prison escapees trying to prove their innocence. This films does that, but in a slightly unconventional manner. The plot, specially the heist part might seem implausible, but practical approach would make movies a dull watch.

The Strength would definitely be it's unique yet slightly implausible storyline, decent casting and tight running time leaving no time to yawn. The movie is definitely bogged down a bit by Sam Worthington's unconvincing lead performance and loose ending.

Overall, "Man on a Ledge" is worth watching, without giving a boring duration. It will not keep you on the ledge nor keep you hooked.

"Nice Appetizer"
22 May 2011
"The Green Hornet" is an action-comedy film, about a young millionaire heir Britt Reid who, following the death of his father teams up with his late dad's assistant Kato to become a masked crime fighting team.

Cast wise, Good choice except for Cameron Diaz. Seth Rogen is infallible as the young party-loving millionaire who became a masked vigilant adamant on justice, whatever be the price. His acting, expression and assent are very good. Jay Chou is good as his unnamed sidekick. The shining star is Christoph Waltz, who is exceptional in his bad-man role. His performance is reminiscent of his equally brilliant act in "Inglourious Basterds". The exception is Cameron Diaz, who looks very old and totally out-of-place for the role. It was a pathetic casting choice. Not to forget the brilliant cameo of James Franco.

The strength of "The Green Hornet" is its stylish Direction, good Action sequences(specially the Car Scene), and Christoph Waltz. The drawbacks will be Cameron Diaz casting and less emphasis on character growth.

Overall, "The Green Hornet" is a good movie. Barring Cameron Diaz, it's a very enjoyable watch. It's a great tonic for multi genre fans.

"Unconventionally Stylish & Romantic"
27 April 2011
"London Boulevard" is the story of a man newly released from prison who falls in love with a reclusive young movie star and finds himself in a duel with a vicious gangster. Torn between these two, he decides the take the matter in his own hands.

Cast-wise, Unconventional and Beautiful. Colin Farrell plays a very similar role to "In Bruges", a recently released criminal who decides to mend his ways but forced into bad company by gangster, Ray Winstone who plays the character with perfection to scare. Colin Farrell looks very conventional for the role and seems to play the role of reclusive hero more often with aplomb consistency. Kiera Knightley plays the role of recently retired young Brit actress like she is just portraying herself. The moments of Farrell and Knightley together on screen feels very romantic and ever lasting. Rest goes on well with their job with special mention of David Thewlis and Ben Chaplin.

"London Boulevard" strength lies in its Casting and Direction. The Storyline might not be much to boost about with predictability creeping in time to time, but Direction is top notch. The scenes between Ray Winstone And Colin Farrell and most importantly, Farrell and Knightley is handled with perfection. The scenes between Farrell and Knightley have rare romance moments, but every moment together feels so genuinely romantic and beautiful that the climax do bore gloominess.

Overall, "London Boulevard" is a solid debut work of the Director, kudos to him. It's not big on entertainment, but watching this movie makes us feel for each of the characters involved, like everything is so lifelike and melancholy yet exquisite. Watch it for an unconventional pleasure ride which will enrapture its viewers.

The Rite (2011)
7/10
"Something Missing And Something Present"
27 April 2011
"The Rite" is an American supernatural horror film about an American seminary student who travels to Italy to take an exorcism course. The turn of events at Rome make him question his self beliefs and embark him on a journey of self fruition and worldly truth.

Cast wise, No complain. Anthony Hopkins seems very natural for his role of Father Lucas, an unorthodox Exorcist who questions his faith after a failed exorcism. His performance, specially the devil possessed climax performance brings in mind the chilling menace he showcased in "Silence Of The Lambs" or "Fracture" etc. Newcomer Colin O'Donoghue plays his role of an upcoming reluctant Priest cum Exorcist with diligence and audacity. His appearance, something of a mixture of dark and white makes him an ideal candidate for Batman's Bruce Wayne role. His performance was not over-the-top nor was it beginner's mess. Rest chips in well in their roles.

"The Rite" strength and weakness both lies in its Storyline. Fact is the storyline deals with the sensitive issues of demonic possession, faith contradictions, exorcism, good versus bad issues in a very delicate ways. Neither the Director injects heroic acts to make it entertaining nor incorporate gore and violence to make an impact. Everything is dealt in a very instinctual manner, rendering the movie being liked by a section of viewers for its authenticity and veracious dealing with its subject material; on the other hand, being distasteful to the other section of viewers for being non entertaining and devoid of gore and violence.

Overall, "The Rite" has something missing and something present. Even though the subject material might be difficult to digest for most viewers, "The Rite" succeeds in capturing the viewer's attention and appreciation.

Harry Brown (2009)

"Phenomenal Caine"
26 April 2011
"Harry Brown" is a British action drama film about an elderly ex-marine and widower who seeks to avenge his best friend's murder by doling out his own form of justice. Starring Micheal Caine in the titular role, it also delves into concerning issues regarding today's youth.

Cast wise, a Gem. It's hard to bump into a movie where Micheal Caine has been lousy in his performance. But in "Harry Brown", he seems to set a benchmark impregnable for others. The movie might not be an eye candid, but it's an experience to see such a phenomenal performance. Backing Caine is not an easy job, but Emily Mortimer delivers what could be her best performance so far.

"Harry Brown" strength lies in its Casting (of course), tight Direction, a socially relevant Script among others. The Director never opts for over-the-top action and gives ample scope for character development. The script lays insight into the corrupting domain of the youth today and it's subsequent social impacts. Kudos to the Writer.

Overall, "Harry Brown" is a no-frills down-to-serious action drama film that might not befit the penchant of many viewers. But, there's nothing more fulfilling than seeing a compelling story brought to life by standout performances and then further enhanced by stellar directing My Verdict: 8/10

"Enlightment With Pleasure"
20 March 2011
"The Last Station" is a historical drama that illustrates Russian author Leo Tolstoy's struggle to balance fame and wealth with his commitment to a life devoid of material things. Given a limited release, this movie never received the accolades it deserved.

Cast wise, a hub of talent at work. Christopher Plummer depicts the titular character with such devotion and authority that a picture of Leo Tolstoy stay etched in our mind just as depicted on screen. Helen Mirren is the true igniter of this movie with her splendid performance as Tolstoy's wife whose conflicts with her husband over the impact of Tolstoy's philosophy on their family possession is brilliantly showcased by Mirren. James McAvoy is absolutely charming in his role of Tolstoy's assistant. Also competent is Paul Giamatti, a devoted scholar of Tolstoy's teachings.

"The Last Station" strength lies in every aspect of its production. The perfect Casting, subtle Storyline, appropriate Running Time, amazing Direction and Screenplay etc are top-drawer. It's arduous to find something too regrettable about the movie to be mentioned.

Overall, "The Last Station" is a wonderful depiction of the most celebrated Russian writer, Leo Tolstoy. To watch great talents at their best is an experience, but coupling the above with an insight into a great personality is a blessing.

The Invasion (I) (2007)

"An Absolute Grotesque"
20 March 2011
"The Invasion" is a science fiction movie concerning an alien epidemic which threatens to extinct the human species in a genetic scenario.

Cast wise, Great Talent but wasted ruthlessly. Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig and Jeremy Northam are the finest actors of this generation, but to find the reason as to why they opted to be part of a movie that has nothing special to befit their credentials is challenging. Even though all of them gave good performances, but sometimes a few positives can't redress for grotesque film making.

"The Invasion" strength is its cast or the way the big stars were lured into being part of something so ludicrous. Neither the Storyline nor the Direction has anything to account for, except for being farcical. Their is no element of thriller nor horror nor mystery in this science fiction misfit.

Overall, "The Invasion" is a mess. Frankly, the Plot,Trailer or Star cast will arouse interest and desire to view this movie, but the feedback will be a manifestation of this review.

Get Low (2009)
8/10
"OverLooked Work Of Nonpareil"
19 March 2011
"Get Low" is a drama film inspired by a real life story of a hermit who throws his funeral party despite being alive. "Get Low" will be most remembered to be the most Over Looked movie at the 2011 Academy Awards.

Cast wise, Dream Cast. Robert Duvall gives a performance that will stay in our mind as one of the most stellar performances in recent years. Mostly stoic, but partly funny and satirical; his performance as the hermit who gives his farewell party while alive will always be a benchmark for his illustrious career. Bill Murray is at his best as the owner of the Farewell Company arranging for the hermit's party. Lucas Black and Sissy Spacek gives very good supporting performance.

"Get Low" strength is its Casting, Direction and Storyline. Considering that "Get Low" is the debut work of the director, he deserve accolades for this towering debut work. "Get Low" surprise omission from the 2011 Academy Awards doesn't speak volume of the Academy's way of nominating, but "Get Low" will captivate the mind of anyone watching it and will remain etched for quite sometime in a very positive frame.

"Mediocre ReUnion For A Dream Pair"
19 March 2011
"Revolutionary Road" is a drama film about a couple whose lives spiral out of control owing to compulsions of life putting restraint on their desires to live a free and uncomplicated life, something not achieved.

Cast wise, Excellent. Leo and Kate give their best to their respective roles but at moment, the acting seems a bit stretched and over done. But the core of the movie has to be Kate Winslet, who brings on screen a very mesmerizing performance worthy of awards. Rest chips in well.

"Revolutionary Road" strength lies in its casting. Story wise, nothing much to tell. It weakens itself in the Screenplay, Editing And Direction part. Frankly, the Screenplay could have been better and the Editing with Direction doesn't help raise the movie beyond the level of an Average movie. It's Kate Winslet who elevate the movie, barring the negative aspects.

Overall, "Revolutionary Road" is a One Time Watch movie. Also, it's difficult to like and dislike the movie simultaneously. But I believe the dream pair of Kate And Leo could have reunited for a better movie than this mediocre piece of work.

Creation (I) (2009)

"Slow Yet Beautiful and Faithful"
27 February 2011
"Creation" is a partly biographical, partly fictionalized account of Charles Darwin's relationship with his eldest daughter, Annie and his wife Emma as he struggles to write On the Origin of Species. It is based on real-life letters and documents of the Darwin family. Hence, the movie delves very deep into the life of Darwin.

Cast wise, I can't complain. Paul Bettany delivers in what is an award winning performance as Charles Darwin. His dialogue delivery, costume, posture, expressions etc gives us clear insight into the kind of dedication and authenticity that has been incorporated into the movie. Jennifer Connelly as Darwin's wife Emma depicts the internal conflicts going on in her mind owing to his controversial book and daughter's death is a splendid way. Rest are very notable in their role.

"Creation" is a bit slow, but that's very important to understand the turmoil and mental instability and social burden endowed by Charles Darwin into writing his revolutionary yet controversial book during his times. The manner in which Charles Darwin struggles to find a balance between his revolutionary theories on evolution and the relationship with religious wife, whose faith contradicts his work is pictured and acted wonderfully. The Cinematography is beautiful and the Soundtrack by Christopher Young truly deserves more recognition.

Overall, "Creation" is a very good biographical movie. It moves slowly through the entire spectrum of Darwin's life. It's a slow, but beautiful and faithful bio drama. A must Watch.

"Confusing To Say The Least"
27 February 2011
"Psych 9" is a horror film about an unstable woman,Working alone at night in a recently closed hospital, who witnesses events that may be connected to a string of murders sloughing the streets at night. To uncover the truth she will have to revisit the past behind the walls of Psych:9.

Cast wise, Good. Sara Foster is convincing in the role of Roslyn Hanniger, a mentally unstable woman experiencing a series of unsettling events. Cary Elwes is chilling in the role of Dr. Irvin Clement, a soft spoken doctor who seems very friendly but holds great secrets within him. Rest are good.

"Psych 9" promises a lot and delivers a few. The final plot might seems confusing and is open to individual retrospection. It still has enough twists and turns to keep viewers engaged. The movie settings is very good with less preference of gore.

Overall, "Psych 9" is an average movie which could have been a good movie. But that doesn't take away anything from the fact that it deserves at least one view.

The Mechanic (2011)

" Unnecessary Movie "
27 February 2011
"The Mechanic" is an action thriller film starring Jason Statham and Ben Foster. There are good action movies and bad action movies, but "The Mechanic" is an unnecessary action movie. Even though I am myself an action movie fan and I respect Jason Statham as an action hero, but nothing could deter from the fact that "The Mechanic" is a waste of time(88 minutes) and money(they didn't get enough profit).

Cast wise, Good. Jason Statham is now the best action hero in Hollywood and hence his casting is natural.Ben Foster is good in his role as a trainee under the guidance of Statham. Besides that, others have hardly any role.

"The Mechanic" doesn't boost of good action neither enough thriller to bear the genre tag of "action thriller".All the actions are typical and nothing oomph factor in them. It seems as though everyone in the movie production team had virtually no prep going into the movie. They just had to make a movie and they made the movie.

Overall, "The Mechanic" is not boring(due short running time). But it doesn't even deserve a single view from audience. It's a bad choice by Jason Statham.
