I've watched this series quite a few times. It's definitely in my top 10!
But this episode absolutely breaks my heart which is why I love the show so much!!
Nurse shows shows so much how addiction really is in some situations. A functioning addict. It's not always someone living in a filth house with no job. Sometimes it's this! Someone who is independent, working, with a life, but absolutely no intentions of getting sober for their family. Completely sabotaging any relationship and stabbing anyone in the back to get what they want.
One of my favorite character Antionette breaking her sobriety breaks my heart. I understand it was 100% her decision to take that first sip. But every time I cry during that dinner scene.
Jackie knew what she was doing. She knew Antoinette was vulnerable & was struggling and she used it to her advantage so she could keep suing. Even after hearing that her husband had passed during a relapse.. she still continued to let her fail as staying sober. & then to bail on the agreement and to only sign Antoinette into Rehab.. I still get goosebumps.
As someone who has lived with an addict, it's like this exactly. You finally have to give up on a lot of people because they truly don't want help and it's sad.
Beautiful directing & writing!
