1. Batman and Robin (1949)
Approved | 263 min | Action, Adventure, Family
Second serial featuring the comic book character Batman. In it, Batman, together with his sidekick Robin, face off against the Wizard, a hooded villain with an electronic device that remotely controls vehicles.
Director: Spencer Gordon Bennet | Stars: Robert Lowery, Johnny Duncan, Jane Adams, Lyle Talbot
Votes: 2,108
In 1943 there was a clunky racist serial called The Batman - the terrible bat-costumes make the 43 Bat show unwatchable today. Thankfully, in 1949, Columbia re-cast Batman and did everything 100 times better in Batman and Robin (1949).
2. Shazam! (1974–1977)
TV-Y7-FV | 30 min | Action, Family, Fantasy
A young boy, able to transform into the superhero Captain Marvel, travels the country fighting evil and helping people.
Stars: Michael Gray, Les Tremayne, Jackson Bostwick, John Davey
Votes: 1,666
Despite not being Batman, this series manages to capture that harmless child-like appeal of the 1966 series.
3. Buck Rogers (1939)
Approved | 237 min | Adventure, Family, Sci-Fi
A 20th Century pilot named Buck Rogers and his young friend Buddy Wade awake from 500 years in suspended animation to find that the world has been taken over by the outlaw army of Killer Kane.
Directors: Ford Beebe, Saul A. Goodkind | Stars: Buster Crabbe, Constance Moore, Jackie Moran, Jack Mulhall
Votes: 996
I call this serial Batman and Robin in Space.
4. Creature from the Haunted Sea (1961)
Unrated | 63 min | Comedy, Horror
A crook decides to bump off members of his inept crew and blame their deaths on a legendary sea creature. What he doesn't know is that the creature is real.
Director: Roger Corman | Stars: Antony Carbone, Betsy Jones-Moreland, Robert Towne, Beach Dickerson
Votes: 3,302
The title is a bit misleading. The creature in this Roger Corman oddity is only about 20% of the movie! This is an early example of so-bad-it-is-good humour! Released in 1961 but filmed in 1959, I can't think of a pre-1959 flick with comedy like this!
5. Batman (1989)
PG-13 | 126 min | Action, Adventure
The Dark Knight of Gotham City begins his war on crime with his first major enemy being Jack Napier, a criminal who becomes the clownishly homicidal Joker.
Director: Tim Burton | Stars: Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger, Robert Wuhl
Votes: 404,229 | Gross: $251.19M
Okay, this is a bit grim and nasty, but not as grim and nasty as the stuff that would come out of Hollywood in the 21st century. I love 1989 Batman!
6. Batman Forever (1995)
PG-13 | 121 min | Action, Adventure
Batman must battle former district attorney Harvey Dent, who is now Two-Face and Edward Nygma, The Riddler with help from an amorous psychologist and a young circus acrobat who becomes his sidekick, Robin.
Director: Joel Schumacher | Stars: Val Kilmer, Tommy Lee Jones, Jim Carrey, Nicole Kidman
Votes: 266,567 | Gross: $184.03M
After the 1989 movie they toned things down a bit. Some people hate this flick but I have always been a fan - even if Robin is a complaining jerk at times!
7. Batman & Robin (1997)
PG-13 | 125 min | Action, Sci-Fi
Batman and Robin try to keep their relationship together even as they must stop Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy from freezing Gotham City.
Director: Joel Schumacher | Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, George Clooney, Chris O'Donnell, Uma Thurman
Votes: 268,117 | Gross: $107.33M
Robin is still a jerk at times but the first ten or 15 minutes of this flick contain some of the best action scenes in 90s Hollywood cinema.
8. Latitude Zero (1969)

Cesar Romero aka The Joker had a ball appearing in this Japanese/American co-production.

Director: Joseph Sargent | Stars: Robert Vaughn, David McCallum, Leo G. Carroll, Barbara Feldon
Votes: 223
Cesar Romero aka The Joker just before 1966 Batman. The hands down best episode of UNCLE has Romero appearing as the nasty well spoken head of "THRUSH". It has often been reported that the UNCLE series used the same sort of "camp" humour as 1966 Batman. Well I usually turned to UNCLE for other things but I can say that one two-part adventure (from season four) was very amusing: The Prince of Darkness Affair.
10. The Return of Captain Nemo (1978 TV Movie)

Votes: 4,716 | Gross: $1.45M
This film has a touch of the campy 1966 Batman humour but done in an R-rated way! Once X-rated before cuts. For decades people have been saying Flash Gordon (1980), written by a Batman writer, resembles the Adam West series - but I don't see it! Flesh Gordon (1974) is the hands down best version of Flash Gordon ever made!

Director: Rick Morales | Stars: Adam West, Burt Ward, William Shatner, Julie Newmar
Votes: 4,555
In some ways this is too grim for a 1966 series reboot, but hey, Adam West and Burt Ward are still here - so how can I complain?

This only just fits in this list. A very light crime series loaded with clever one-liners (from Burke) and he even has a youthful assistant. Burgess Meredith appeared playing a crazy guy.

Godzilla goes into full-on campy Batman mode. The climax of this film has four creatures battle it out (Godzilla and a robot at one end). Godzilla becomes almost human-like as he shakes hands with his fellow crime-fighter. This film is comedy, no science fiction here!
