Brilliant!!!

"Belphegor" is simply a brilliant show. It exploits the well-known french Belphegor francise, based on the horror novel by Arthur Bernède, later transformed into comic book. Belphegor, the so-called "Ghost of the Louvre", has numerous TV and big screen adaptations. Most popular are the TV series from 1965 and the movie from 2001 (starring Sophie Marceau). In my opinion the 2001 movie is quite far from the style and the class this story deserves, in two word - bad adaptation. But these series... Oh, yeah!!! The animation - Very detailed backgrounds. Streets, parks, buildings, interior - everything is precise. The characters - stylized and mature. Highly visual and artistic. You just watch it and you know it's one of those great European animations. French animation rule! The plot - myth and mystery to the very end! Unusual, unpredictable, dark, even bizarre at moments. Every single story is great, complex and mature. Just leaves you with your mouth wide open. Belphegor animated has been produced by Les Armateurs who are also known as the producers of Kirikou et la Sorciere, and co-produced by France 2 and France 3. The artist and directeur artistique Frederic Bezian is a Belphegor fan and an illustrator already known for his comic book Chien rouge et Chien noir. If you have any chance - WATCH THIS SHOW!!!
