A woman pursues a man who tried to rape her but
meslon15 March 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Lainie Wheeler, a women who's just turned her life around, finds herself on the run as she's suspected of killing the man who tried to rape her. She is imprisoned but as time goes by, new evidence begins to unfold. Not the greatest movie, by a long-shot, but at 4.5/10 it is watchable if nothing else is on. A typical storyline--tortured soul is wrongfully accused of a crime---and as the story unfolds the person is ???? I do not wish to say much more about the movie as any more information would be considered spoiler information. Typical low budget filmed in Canada movie aka soap thriller. I have seen worse movies and "in a pinch" this movie will entertain.

A woman hunted and a plot repeated.
lspeth13 December 2004
Not a bad thriller, but since it doesn't appear in the credits, on screen or here, it may be of interest that the story, including the twist ending, was lifted directly from a 1985 Mexican/US joint production called TO KILL A STRANGER. The scene has been shifted from Eastern Europe to (apparently) New York and the character of the victim/heroine has been heavily reworked, but the essential shape of the plot remains identical. The details of the child custody conflict have been added to create a barrier between the protagonist and the otherwise likable cops (in the original, the barrier is political). Fairly well acted, and this movie gives Alexandra Paul a chance to work a full menu of emotions. But her boyfriend seems pretty boring.

A Good Low Budget Thriller
claudio_carvalho19 December 2004
Warning: Spoilers
Lainie Wheeler (Alexandra Paul) is a woman divorced and ex-addicted in pills, who lost the custody of her two young daughters. The girls are living in a foster house, and Lainie is trying to get her life and the children back. She has successfully participated of a rehabilitation program, and is working in the production of a TV show. She is assigned to interview Harry Brewer (Jonathan Higgins), a famous baseball player. In the end of the day, while travelling back home, Lainie has a car accident in an isolated road, and Harry coincidentally offers to help her. He invites her to go to his house and call a truck. Lainie accepts the invitation, and Harry indeed wants to rape her. While trying to self-defend, an incident happens with Harry, turning the life of Lainie upside-down, when Det. Webster (Linden Ashby) investigates the disappearance of Harry and Lainie is threatened of losing her daughters. "A Woman Hunted" is a good low budget thriller, having good performances of the cast and a very reasonable screenplay, including an excellent plot point in the end of the story. It is a good entertainment hooking the attention of the viewer until the end of the story. My vote is seven.

The Lainie Wheeler Story
lavatch13 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Elaine "Lainie" Wheeler is one strong woman. "A Woman Hunted" (a.k.a., "Outrage") tells her harrowing story in which she fights for truth, justice, and the reunion of a mother and her daughters.

Lainie's first husband upped and left on her, preferring a monastery in Thailand to honoring his duties as a father. As a single mom, Lainie worked in a hospice to support her two children. But, surrounded by death all the time, Lainie suffered depression and became addicted to drugs. After a meltdown in a department story, she was arrested and pleaded guilty to drug possession. The sentence was suspended, but there was a difficult period of separation from her little girls, who were farmed out to a foster home.

But the nightmare is only beginning for Lainie Wheeler when she meets the ex-jock Harry Brewer. After getting her car stuck, Brewer picks up Lainie, takes her to his secluded home, rapes her, and is preparing to kill her. Lainie fights back and the ex-baseball player commits a costly error by coaching her on how to "choke up" on the bat. Lainie follows his advice and knocks the living daylights out of the former MVP, who topples into a well!

The remainder of the film is Lainie's struggle to avoid the long arm of the law. Harry's ex-wife Marcie, who was once stabbed near the aorta by her husband, may hold the key to proving that Lainie was acting in self-defense when Harry took the deep plunge.

The actress playing Lainie was terrific in conveying the Kafkaesque nightmare of separation from her children while desperately struggling to prove her innocence. Lainie's ex-beau Matt lends a helping hand in her direst time of need. But it is the strength of character of Lainie that is at the heart of this film experience.

At one point in the film, Lainie cries aloud, "I will not be your victim!" while thinking about the nefarious creature Harry Brewer. There was a moment where she was tempted to return to the pill-popping. But Lainie Wheeler said "no" to drugs and "yes" to life in the heroic pursuit of a mother and the love of her beloved children.

one of the best movies I've ever seen

I got this movie on a whim at movie stop for 2.99. Boy was it well worth it I loved it. It had everything a movie should it was sad, it had surprises, and the twist at the end was awesome.

Lainie has a drug problem, and is trying to get her kids back. When she gets out of rehab she meets a baseball player. When her car breaks down she runs into him again, and when they get back to his cabin things take a turn for the worst. I cant tell much more without giving anything away.

The acting was great, and the characters were well placed. Lainie's character is well written, and you really feel bad for her.

I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone. Great For a low budget movie.

Do yourselves a favor and pick this one up!
