Great Episode...Minus....

Warning: Spoilers
Dear GOD why did they have to add a character in that makes you want to slap them through the screen.

I love everyone in this show but the new dispatcher that treats May like dirt can go. If she is going to become a regular I'm going to find it hard to keep watching.

And the Emmy goes to.....

No one will ever break your heart as hard as Kenneth Choi as Chimney in this week's episode. It was just gut wrenching watching him suffer through the aftermath of Maddie's departure.

This was an overall great episode. Stepping back from the weekly huge disaster gave the show time to focus on the people. The devastation caused by the Homecoming crash was also heart crushing.

The new dispatcher? Lose her now!

I didn't even mind that it was totally clear from the very beginning that that one cheerleader wasn't their daughter. And as a bonus we got a Buck and Eddie balcony scene. I didn't expect that. So it doesn't always has to be the kitchen.

Well...

Warning: Spoilers
I still enjoy this soap/emergency show, but this has got to be the fourth or fifth series to use the 'mistaken identity of victims" routine, down to the staging and pretty much even the dialogue.

Horrible New Character

Warning: Spoilers
The new dispatcher has to go. There's no way someone with this behavior would be celebrated or tolerated. Way over the top, and she needs to go. If this is who they are going replace Maddie with, I'm done.

headed for their own 911

Warning: Spoilers
If they keep the new 911 dispatcher character AT ALL I'm not watching. I get they have to have bad characters we dislike to add balance to the show, but this is RIDICULOUS! There is NO way this person would be celebrated under normal circumstances nor would her abhorrent sarcasm come off as funny like that. "I gave you 6 months before you washed out" (and she was SERIOUS) but they laughed her off. She took a latte from someone she had just met. She treated same during a call like an inept child in front of others. NO.. just NO!

I'm ok with the slower episodes where it's not all chasing elephants during an earthquake or tsunami or tracking down a kidnapped by a psycho son or saving a 100 people from a towering inferno. Not all episodes CAN be like those. We need the filler episodes to breathe, get to know our guys better, see normal (somewhat) stuff with them.

Poor Chimney having to track down Maddie (and he SHOULD since parents don't get to just WALK OUT unscathed...they need to leave? Do it the right way!) Hen making a very understandable identity mistake and have to face up to it and the parents who will be left devastated....all great storylines. I'm good with those. Keep bringing them on.

But having a freaking nightmare walk into the 911 offices and just take over throwing everyone against the wall with her crappy attitude?? It leaves a VERY BAD TASTE in my mouth for a show that I love. I'll stop watching rather than change my expectations on that score.

not yet exited about the new season

It's ok that some characters go away for a while, but new characters unfortunately don't yet look promising. The whole episode had like 10 minutes of action? The rest... I don't even remember what happened in the rest of it. I really loved seasons 1 and 4, and I wish series could go back to having 3-4 exciting cases in each episodes, during which characters could be developed much better than when they just talk and talk and talk about their issues. Also, I miss badass Athena on the streets.
