Fun episode...

I really enjoyed seeing Nathan Fillion and his date played by Darcy Donavan. Wished that part could had went on a little longer. Nathan is always funny and entertaining. Darcy is the same, a goofy, funny woman with a good heart and I really hope she gets those big roles she deserves, because she does have a lot of talent.

Love this episode because of the Claire reveal at the end.

Warning: Spoilers
Phil and Claire have always been my favorite couple on the series... when they are written correctly. Too often they joke about Claire's sexual adventures of her college years or they make Phil absolutely clueless about the situations that their kids are going through. But when the two of them work together and are a team, they are the power couple of the series with iconic moments. This episode is a other example of that. For most of the episode, you are afraid they are about to write another, oh boy Claire is being a berk to Phil again, when they pull the bait and switch reminding us all how awesome their relationship is. It's the type of scene that warms my heart and has me craving for more. All of their roleplaying escapades are some of my favorite moments of the show.

Do You Believe in Magic?

I think you just have to accept by this stage in its run that 'Modern Family', like man long-running comedies before it, had reached a stage where some episodes are better than others.

It tries to tell three stories per episode too, so that only adds to the hit/miss nature of it.

I liked the majority of this episode, with only the Cam/Mitch storyline not doing much for me.

Worst episode of the series

The writing, direction and acting in this episode was mailed in. They quit trying. I know this show started to devolve in Season 4 and now it's at its lowest point.

This particular episode appears formulaic and the writing leans heavily on past seasons successes. The actors are hurried through their lines and the conversations ring false. They have become clichés of themselves.

When we queue this show each week on our weekly TV night, it is done because of ritual.

it is very hard to a care about these characters anymore. Not a funny show any more. I wish this show had ended before this season. This season has soured me on the whole enterprise. That is too bad.
